Kim and Brett - A Cooperstown Elopement
Participating in a couple’s wedding – whether as a vendor, officiant, or guest – is extremely special. Witnessing or contributing to this one-time event, signifying the start of a life together, is a true honor. That’s how I felt last year when Kim asked if I would join her and Brett for their elopement in Cooperstown.
Because of the limited guest and vendor list for an elopement, Kim and Brett were able to be extremely flexible when choosing their wedding date. November weather in upstate New York can be hit or miss. On the day we set out the air was chilly, but we had beautiful sunshine and a hike to warm us. The day involved a hike to a place in Cooperstown that holds special meaning for Kim and Brett. Kim had her hair and makeup done that morning with Liza M. Gonzalez-Brondou and then hiked in her dress!
Even though we had all walked together for a good thirty or so minutes, the anticipation and buzz you feel on a wedding day was still there as we chose where Kim and Brett would stand and prepared to begin the ceremony. And the smiles! Check out those sweet smiles after they sealed the deal.
There is definitely value in the traditional wedding ceremony and reception, but experiencing Kim and Brett’s intimate elopement offered a whole new perspective on exchanging vows. The whole event had just the sweetest and most romantic vibe. The wedding-day stress level was non-existent, and the secrecy added something to the intimacy of the day. I love re-living these moments through these images and seeing the happiness emanating from Kim and Brett.
I am so grateful to have been able to document this day. Below are just a few images from their elopement last year. Happy anniversary, Johnsons!
