Having a Blast in the Backyard -- Cooperstown Family Session

I used to be obsessed with finding the perfect location for a session — whether I was the subject or the photographer. But what I’ve come to realize lately is that for these family sessions, the location is not as important as we may think. More than likely, the first thing you will notice when you receive your gallery are the people in the images, and the moments we captured. Places can have sentimental value and add to those moments, but in the end I’m not a landscape photographer. (For some great landscape and architecture images, you can check out my friend Abby’s work.) I like photographing people. Give me a great location, sure, but put a person in the shot. All that to say, don’t stress too much about where we hold the session. All we need is some great light — and you. We did this session in the backyard with some very energetic kids. We started the running-around portion of the afternoon a little early…and had a blast. :)
